Role: IAS officers are responsible for the administrative functions of the government. Training: Once selected, IAS officers undergo training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. This training prepares them for the challenges of public administration and governance. Career Progression: IAS officers start their career as Assistant Collectors or Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) at the district level. They can later move on to higher positions such as District Collectors (Deputy Commissioners), Principal Secretaries, Chief Secretaries, and even Cabinet Secretaries at the national level.
