Traditional methods of teaching are a thing of the past in which teachers are the controller of the class where they teach and take complete responsibility for the learning environment. All the duties and powers are vested in the teacher and they, being the lecturer in the class, play the role of an instructor for the students and also the decision maker for taking the decision of what to teach and how to teach.

  • There is no proper alignment that can be seen between objectives, activities and assessments in traditional teaching.

These are the traits of traditional teaching methods which do not seem suitable during the era of technology. As we are in the 21st century, demands changes in the traditional education and old education system to cope with the modern time. Teachers are now trying to apply the best method of teaching for students to make them meet their needs of students in a meaningful way.

Today, the scenario of the classroom has been changing, students are no longer being treated as the target audience, instead, they take active participation in the classroom and learning. Teachers allow them to speak and ask questions about what they teach. Over the years, teaching styles and methods have been changing. The traditional way of education in which memorization and recitation methods are used has been replaced by interactive methods.

Traditional Teaching Method

Traditional teaching methods which are also known as conventional teaching methods are still used in schools on a wider scale. In the traditional teaching methods, teachers ask students to recite and memorize the content of the study and what they teach in the classroom and also students one by one recite the lesson when their turn comes. Except for those who are reciting, other students listen and wait for their turn. In this way, the whole lesson is completed by students. Then students are asked to memorize the lesson and on the basis of this recitation, teachers take assignments, written tests or oral tests.

Traditional teaching methods are practiced in the classroom in such a way that makes students get rewarded for the effort they put into the classroom during periods of each subject. Rules and regulations are exercised in the classroom in such a way that it keeps students’ behavior in check. These rules and regulations derived from established customs that schools had been using for many years successfully. Teachers are responsible to impart knowledge and maintain the standards of behavior in the school.

Activity helps the brain cells to make connections which makes students remember better.

  • Learning is scheduled    

 Students can be planning a schedule of balanced activities and enough time for studying each subject. Joining the class on time.  It practice being punctual throughout the academic years. 

  • Extra-curricular activities

It includes sports, community service, student government, hobbies, arts, educational clubs, etc. Field trips, school activities, and educational clubs part of which you can be are just some of those experiences.
