Another full form of TGT is Ticket Granting Ticket.

TGT is one type of encrypted data which issued by the server in Kerberos authentication model. The basic idea is starting the authentication process by Ticket Granting Ticket. For verifying the client identity, the server sends ticket to client and then client sends back the ticket with some additional information. Then by issuing the service ticket and session key which includes password, the server starts authentication process.

In the Kerberos Model, all tickets are time stamped with the limited lifetime. This process reduces the risk of cracking or hacking the encrypted data and use it to compromise the system. TGT is session specific and helps to improve the security of the system by ensuring that there are no ticket remains after the session.
