What is the full form of ITI?

ITI full-form is INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE

ITI is Government Training Institute responsible for providing training to the students after higher secondary schools. Whereas in ITI, there are also some trades for students of 8th grade.

It provides training to the students in engineering and non-engineering trades. It is a post-secondary school in India which is constituted under the Directorate General of Employment of Training (DGET), Ministry of Labour & Employment Union Government of India.

ITI courses duration

The duration for the various types of courses of both technical and non-technical trades is varies from 6 months to 3 years.

Types of various ITI courses

The various ITI courses are available for skill development, and the Government of India is paying much attention to it so that more and more people can be skilled.

ITI courses are of two types of certified and which are NCVT  or SCVT accreditation.

ITI courses can be divided in two parts:

Engineering Trades

Engineering trades are also known as Technical trades or courses. In which, students can study about computer, science, maths, physics, technology etc.

The list of these courses is here like, Draughtsman (Civil) Engineering, Electrician, Information Technology & E.S.M. Engineering, Fitter, Mechanical, Surveyor, Web Designing and Computer Graphics  etc. and many more.

Non-Engineering Trades

Non-Engineering trades are also known as Non-Technical trades or courses. In which, students can study related to daily life and management.

The list of these courses is here like, Hair & Skin Care, Spa Therapy, Dress Making, Basic Cosmetology etc. and many more.

Eligibility Criteria to get admission in ITI

The eligibility criteria to get admission in ITI may differ from course to course. The criteria for students is described below:

  • The Students should have completed his/her 10th standard from a recognized education board. Or any other examination which refers as 10th standard.
  • The Students should have acquired at least 35% aggregate.
  • To take the admission, The students’ age must be between 14 to 40 years.

The Admission process

The Admission to the Industrial Training Institutes (full form of ITI) is possible in two ways.

  1. Direct admission(based on 10th grade)
  2. Through entrance exams

Private colleges may provide direct admissions to this course based on the 10th grade. Any student who have above 40 % in 10th grade can get admission for this course.

To get admission in Government colleges, you have to give an entrance exam conducted by the different state agencies. By clearing these exams, you will get admission in the top ITI colleges as per your choice.

Jobs after completing ITI Course

After completing ITI technical course, getting a job is very easy. Employment in the Government sector such as Electricity department, Railway, Defense is available.

The students can also join with lot of private-sector jobs after getting ITI degree. Where, Many students from reputed institutions can get on-campus placement in various companies.

It is advised to the students to do apprentices after the completion of their course. By doing this students can get a good job and a better package in multinational companies.

Students can avail the Private sector jobs for Abroad also. For getting a job outside of India, an experience of 1 or 2 years is required.
