Full form of CNG
Full form of CNG is Compressed Natural Gas.
It basically made up of methane gas which produces engine power after mixed with the air. It is a fuel that can be used instead of petrol, diesel and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas).
It produces lesser undesirable gases compared to other petroleum products so that it is effective for control the air pollution. so it referred as more environment friendly than other fuel products.
History
In late 1800, the use of natural gas introduced as fuel for vehicles.
The first natural gas was copyrighted in USA and after the second world war. CNG accepted as primary fuel by Italy and other European countries.
CNG is also obtained from wastewater treatment plans and from landfills.
It is brought by compressing it to less than 1% of its standard atmospheric pressures. It is stored and allocated at the pressure of 20-25 MPa in a cylindrical or hard spherical containers.
Properties of CNG
It is 40% lighter than air
CNG is Colorless, Tasteless, Odorless with Non-toxic and Non-corrosive properties
High ignition temperature
The main component of CNG is Methane
Advantages of CNG
It is environment friendly and it produces harmful gases than other replacements like, Petrol and Diesel
It is cheaper than other alternatives i.e. Diesel and petrol which are used to run cars, buses and other automobiles
It provides high temperature of 540 degree Celsius and more
As compared to the vehicles running over Diesel and Petrol, the maintenance cost for those vehicles running over CNG is low
It improves the life of lubricant oils because it doesn’t dilute the crankcase oil
