Full form of CGPA
Full form of CGPA is Cumulative Grade Point Average.
In colleges and schools, CGPA is used to measure all academic performance of the students. It is allotted with the grading (A, B, C, D or F). It is the calculation for average of all grade points obtained in all subjects from all semesters after the course completion. It is used to specify only one term.
The grading system is based on percentage in India. And it differs from different countries and also the grading standards may vary as per their principles and education policies.
How to calculate the percentage for CGPA?
To calculate the percentage of marks, these steps are followed:
Subjects wise percentage of marks = 9.5 * Subject GP
Overall percentage = 9.5 * Total CGPA
Let’s understand with example,
If the student got 8.7 CGPA total, then the overall percentage of student can be calculated like this,
the total percentage of marks = 9.5 * 8.6 = 81.7%
The grading system of the India is based on percentage and calculated as per below given table:

Disadvantages of CGPA

In percentage calculation, students come equal although the students who have achieved higher in comparison with those who have achieved less. So this method demotivates the students.
