Full form of ACP
Full form of ACP is Assistant Commissioner of Police.
It is referred as one of the most highest ranks in Indian Police Service (IPS). This rank is used in many police forces globally. And in many countries, this rank is also used for revenue administrations such as, customs, land, income tax, inland etc. The magisterial powers like SDM are also granted to the ACP of land revenues for the settlement of disputes.
In metro cities, there may be one or more Assistance Commissioners of Police. As per the section 50 of the police Act 1996, the appointment of ACP can be done.
ACP is responsible for managing the day to day operations such as, law, order and prevention of crime. ACP is accountable for higher authorities.
Eligibility Criteria and How to become ACP?
There are two ways to become ACP and those are: to become ACP and those are: you have to appear and cleared the UPSC exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission board.
After 15-20 years of successful service, the state police officers can also become ACP.
The IPS officers as well as DSP can be promoted for the post of ACP.
The post is evaluated as one of the most respectful and honorable position.
To appear in examinations, one should have bachelor’s degree from recognized university.
The applicant should be Indian citizen and must have completed 21 years.
The age limit may varies from different categories like, general, OBC, ST, SC etc.
