Full form of RO
Full form of RO is Reverse Osmosis.
It is the filtration process that helps water purifiers to remove unwanted ions, TDS, molecules and dissolved solids from the water.
Working Process of RO
In RO, solvent passes through the semi-permeable membrane from high concentrated solution to low concentrated solutions. The pump of RO water purifier generates the required pressure for moving the solvent water from high concentrated solution to low concentrated solutions.
RO is the process for removing all the bacteria and impurities from the water by using pressure through the permeable membrane. Thus, all the impurities are removed during this process and make the water clean and pure to drink.
Osmosis is the opposite of Reverse Osmosis. In Osmosis, solvent passes through the semi-permeable membrane from low concentrated solution to high concentrated solutions.
Difference between Osmosis and Reverse Osmosis
Osmosis | Reverse Osmosis |
It is the process of passing the water solvent molecules through semi-permeable membrane from low concentrated solution to high concentrated solutions. | It is the process of passing the water solvent molecules through semi-permeable membrane in the opposite direction of Osmosis. |
It happens by opening the stomata and roots from the soil during the process of absorbing water. | It is widely used in water purifying systems. |
It is a natural process. | It is an Artificial process. |
Osmosis is pass off through potential gradient | Reverse Osmosis is pass off against potential gradient |
